What an incredible few days for our Blind and Low Vision (VI) students! ✨

Our students recently traveled to Charleston, WV, to compete in the Braille Challenge and Cane Quest in collaboration with the Children's Vision Rehabilitation Program, and they brought their incredible skills with them! 🦯

But the experience didn’t stop there…

Students also visited the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE), where they put their Orientation & Mobility (O&M) skills to the test by navigating the building like pros in a brand-new environment. 🏢

Along the way, they connected with WVDE employees, introducing themselves, sharing their stories, and proudly representing the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB).

Representatives also delivered a presentation on the Instructional Resource Center (IRC) on campus, sharing how it provides vital resources and support not just for WVSDB students but for students with vision needs across West Virginia.

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing WVSDB so well! 👏

📚✨ Read Across America Week at WVSDB! ✨📚

What an incredible moment on campus! One of our amazing high school students, Raiden, took the spotlight and signed a story in American Sign Language (ASL) to one of our elementary classes. 🤟

There’s nothing better than seeing our students lead and connect across grade levels. Watching our younger students fully engaged in a story told in their language was powerful and heartwarming!

This is what makes the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB) so special: students inspire students, and Deaf culture thrives every day. 💛

We’re so proud of Raiden for leading the way! 🌟
