Happy Thanksgiving from The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind! 🦃 We're so thankful for our students, staff, and administrators. ❤️ We hope you enjoy the rest of your Fall break! 🍂

The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind welcomed a couple of very special guests last week! 🤗
Angela Bednarczyk, a teacher of the Deaf in Africa, who sponsors a deaf individual from Senegal, West Africa named Badou.
Thank you for coming to visit us! 🤩

Students from The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind visited Timbrook KIA and learned how to shop and buy a car! 🚗
The vehicle of interest by one of the students was a Kia Soul. The financial algebra class has been learning how to purchase a vehicle using a loan option in the classroom. 💰
They connected the classroom work with the real-world situation.
Thank you, Mr. Henry and Timbrook Kia, for showing them how it is done! ✔️

⭐ You're Invited! ⭐
The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, in collaboration with WV Deaf Service Center and WVOCDB, is hosting a Deaf Tea Chat! ☕
📅Saturday, December 9th, 2023
⏰2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
🏫The Brannon Auditorium
Families of deaf and hard-of-hearing children, alumni, and people who know or are learning ASL are encouraged to attend.
We hope to see you there! 🤩

Stephanie Banik from the Cacapon Institute returned to teach the students about the importance of watersheds. 💧
Ms. Banik wrapped up her presentation with a special painting project for Ms. Park's and Ms. Biddle's classes. The students painted a mural that depicts what an area looks like when a watershed is not cared for vs one when we do care for our watershed. 🎨
As a bonus, the students met with Mayor Keadle to explain their work and presented it to her as a gift. In one photo, the mural is hanging in the Mayor's office! 🤩

The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind's Fall Dinner Show was a SUCCESS! 🍽️🍂
We want to thank everyone who came out to support our students.
A special shoutout to Mr. Haza, Mr. Barry Nealis, and Mr. Olden for helping our students showcase their talents to the community! 🤩

Alana Hartman from the DEP and Stephanie Banik from the Cacapon Institute worked with Ms. Park's and Ms. Biddle's classes, concentrating on invasive species and assisting with the initial cleanup of our campus Rain Garden. 🌸
The presentation began in the classroom, where Ms. Hartman taught the students about invasive plant species in our area. She included various examples for the students to examine. 🌿
The lesson then moved outside to the campus Rain Garden, located between the Sevigny and Bannon buildings, where the students engaged in cleaning the Rain Garden. 🌧️
