📚✨ Read Across America Week at WVSDB! ✨📚

What an incredible moment on campus! One of our amazing high school students, Raiden, took the spotlight and signed a story in American Sign Language (ASL) to one of our elementary classes. 🤟

There’s nothing better than seeing our students lead and connect across grade levels. Watching our younger students fully engaged in a story told in their language was powerful and heartwarming!

This is what makes the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB) so special: students inspire students, and Deaf culture thrives every day. 💛

We’re so proud of Raiden for leading the way! 🌟

What a BEAUTIFUL day at the West Virginia State Capitol for Deaf Awareness Day! 💛💙

Our Tapestry students took the stage at the West Virginia State Capitol, performing for members of the Legislature and powerfully sharing their incredible talents.

A huge thank you to WVSDB Outreach for attending, tabling, and helping spread awareness, and for going LIVE with Hands Up, West Virginia! to share the experience statewide! 🎥

CAP program representatives highlighted the Career Academy for Postgraduates (CAP), supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) and Blind/Low Vision (VI) students as they transition to life after high school. 🎓

Today wasn’t just a performance; it was advocacy. It was visibility. It was community. 🌟

Collaboration Creates Opportunity. 💙

We were thrilled to welcome our neighbors from Frankfort High School for an action-packed Goalball matchup against our WVSDB Black Bears! 🐻

Sure, there was some friendly competition, but the real victory was bringing schools together. When students share experiences like this, they build connections and broaden perspectives. 🥅

Collaboration creates understanding. Shared experiences build community. And when schools support one another, everyone grows stronger.

We’re grateful for partnerships that make moments like this possible, and we’re already looking forward to the next matchup! 🏆
