Last night the WVSDB Boy Scout Troop was introduced to the game of tennis by local coaches from the county high school. The scouts learned how to grip the tennis racquet and how to do forehand, and backhand strokes. The evening ended with the scouts and the coaches playing King of the Court. #blackbearscouts

During the Spring, WVSDB residents have many opportunities to take part in a variety of leisure and fitness activities in the evenings. July 31 – August 3, 2023 WVSDB is partnering with NASA and the WVU STEAM Technical Assistance Center to provide students with experiences solving real-world challenges and everyday problems by integrating science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM.) Topics will include: robotics, drones, weather, transportation, and geology. Elementary students will enjoy Lego Robotics while Middle and High schoolers explore Rocketry and Vex Robots. This week of fun is available free of charge to eligible students grades K-12. Bus transportation is provided from hubs around the state and housing is available in the WVSDB dorm. This week's activities will include: swimming, stomp rockets, Sphero robots and disc golf. Students will be taking a field trip to Jaydee's Family Fun Center.
