Happy National School Librarian Day! ✨📚
Today, we celebrate Ms. Nelson, who goes above and beyond to keep our library running smoothly! She works hard to create a welcoming space, helping students find the perfect book and fostering a love of learning. 💙
In addition to her dedication at WVSDB, she also assists with the West Virginia Library Commission, helping expand resources and literacy efforts across the state. 📖

Future Educators in Action! 🍎
The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB) was thrilled to welcome University of Charleston (UC) students to campus! 🏫
These aspiring educators had the opportunity to meet with our Outreach Director, tour our Lending Library, and engage with our students to learn more about the specialized programs and services we provide for those who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Visually Impaired.
We hope this visit inspires you on your journey to becoming educators. 💙

Bad News Bears Rocketry Team Takes Flight! 🚀
April Fool’s Day was no joke for our rocketry team! Our first rocket launched successfully, but one parachute failed, sending it plummeting 500 feet.
Miraculously, the eggs survived, though two fins broke off. Despite best efforts, the team couldn’t fully repair it.
Enter the backup rocket; launch #2 was a success! 🤩
We completed two qualifying flights, with our best reaching 768 feet in 39.71 seconds; both chutes deployed, and the eggs survived! 🥚
Now, we wait to see if our scores earn us a spot at Nationals in Washington, D.C! 🤞

Our March Discovery P.O.I.N.T. was a SUCCESS! 🌟
This month, our students focused on becoming career-ready with Bear Wear for Success! 👔
They learned how to dress for interviews and were fitted for professional attire in preparation for a mock interview in April with a local business in Romney.
For our Deaf, Hard of Hearing (DHH), and Visually Impaired (VI) students, developing these career-readiness skills is essential for building confidence, independence, and self-advocacy in the workplace. 💼
By practicing interview techniques and workplace expectations, they are gaining the tools they need to succeed beyond graduation! 🎓
Interested in joining us for our April Discovery P.O.I.N.T.?

Kneading Life Skills! 🔥
Our elementary students took a big step toward independence by making their own personal pizzas and a delicious cheesecake for dessert! From kneading dough and choosing toppings to mixing and preparing their sweet treat, they gained hands-on experience in the kitchen. 🍕
More than just a fun activity, this experience helped them build confidence in the kitchen, develop decision-making skills, and practice responsibility. 🤩
After all their hard work, they enjoyed their pizzas and cheesecake together in a family-style meal! 🍽️
