We are excited to invite you to an upcoming virtual information session to learn more about the Career Academy for Postgraduates (CAP) program at the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.
These one-hour sessions are designed for prospective students, families, educators, and service providers who want to better understand how CAP supports Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Blind/Visually Impaired young adults as they transition from high school into adulthood.
The CAP is a postsecondary transition program for students who graduate with a standard diploma. The program is highly individualized and designed to meet students where they are, based on their goals for life after high school.
During the session, we will discuss:
What the CAP program entails and what a typical year looks like
Eligibility requirements
How CAP can be individualized for students who are:
Simultaneously enrolled in a local or virtual college program
Focused on refining work skills and gaining meaningful work experiences
Preparing to enter college or training programs in the near future
The application process, timelines, and next steps
Opportunities for questions and discussion
Whether you are a student exploring next steps, a family member supporting transition planning, or an educator or service provider working with young adults, we hope you’ll join us to learn how CAP builds independence, confidence, and real-world skills through a structured, supportive, and accessible program.
📅 Informational Session 1: Thursday, February 12th, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
📅 Informational Session 2: Monday, February 23rd , 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
