Lisa Hileman, an educator at the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB) in Romney, West Virginia, has been re-elected to the Board of Directors for the Eastern West Virginia Area Health Education Center (AHEC).
AHEC is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality, distribution, and retention of healthcare professionals in underserved rural communities. By focusing on training healthcare students for careers in non-urban areas, AHEC equips them to address the unique economic and social challenges faced by rural populations.
In West Virginia, 50 of the state’s 55 counties are considered medically underserved, with critical shortages of health professionals. Hileman’s re-election to the board underscores her commitment to advancing initiatives that improve access to healthcare in these areas.
The WVSDB community congratulates Lisa Hileman on her continued leadership role in this vital organization.
